Welcoming An Tánaiste to Altidore Gardens for World Green Building Week

We were honoured to welcome An Tánaiste Simon Harris TD to Altidore Gardens, Newtownmountkennedy during World Green Building Week for our Net Zero Carbon showcase.

The visit brought together industry representatives, stakeholders, and officials for a tour of the new crèche and community centre, a landmark project designed using Mass Engineered timber and built to the principals of Net Zero Carbon. Guests had the opportunity to see the sustainable design principles and innovative construction methods underpinning the project, including the striking exposed timber panels and columns.

Following the tour, addresses were delivered by D/RES CEO Patrick Durkan and An Tánaiste, both highlighting the importance of ambitious climate action and the role of sustainable building in shaping resilient communities and delivering at scale to meet Ireland’s housing needs.

This project marks a milestone in sustainable construction and the delivery of public buildings in Ireland. Beyond its environmental credentials, it also represents a significant investment in the local community, creating healthy, future-proofed environments for children to learn and for residents to benefit from for generations to come.

At D/RES, our ambition is that projects like Altidore Gardens will set a new standard while demonstrating that sustainable construction is not only essential, but also achievable.
